Over the years we have looked at most payroll packages. Some good ones came and went whilst others were snapped up by bigger companies and priced up. Only a few independents left. QTAC is one.

 

Given all payroll solutions should cover the same PAYE law and processes, it is very hard to find a solution that 'sticks out'. All do the basics well (they have to, because employees read their payslips !). However, when we were faced with the need for a full solution we choose QTAC. It's fast. It's well laid out. It's very flexible and it's well priced. It is also its own master, not tied to the big corporate demand. “Increase support revenue”. “Change the logo, up the price”. It does what is says on the tin. Comprehensive – single user, multi user, one employee, unlimited employees, unlimited multi company (imagine having 8000 owner managed businesses on your books all wanting a P35), automated processes to speed up payrolls, re-process closed periods, forward process, process one employee only, full file by internet filing, payroll or calculator mode, bulk amendments, multiple pensions, comprehensive user settings…..and of course all the things you’d expect

 

Bureau – if you are a bureau or an agency then this package is for you. You can have as many payrolls as you wish for no extra cost. Licences are on the basis of employee records, not companies. If you want 1000 ‘employees’ in the system that represent 1000 different one-man limited companies or nanny employers, each requiring a different P35, you can.

 

Forward and Back Processing – when using QTAC you can forward or backward process any employee independently of any other. So if you have one employee in a payroll of fifteen who is going on holiday and you want to process their next three weeks of payslips, you can. All the other employees can be processed when you want to. Of course one employee has had their bonus re-calculated and you want to re-process the previous six weeks. You can do that too
